Partial Payment Installment Agreement

You may be able to make payments on part of your debt if you can’t afford to pay it all. Unfortunately, the debt will take longer to pay off, and the IRS will file a federal tax lien on your property to make sure you pay it.

What are the results when requesting an installment payment plan?

When requesting an installment payment plan with certain exceptions, the IRS will suspend all collection action against you until the offer is either accepted or rejected, during their review of the installment offer.

If the offer is rejected, the IRS resumes collection activity 30 days after providing the rejection letter.

When you exercise your right to appeal either an installment agreement or termination of an installment agreement, IRS collection activity is suspended until the appeal decision becomes final.
